SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Junior forward #Hakim Warrick# tallied 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Orangemen to a 94-82 victory in an exhibition contest versus Team Nike on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Carrier Dome.
Sophomore #Billy Edelin# added 16 points and freshman #Terrence Roberts# poured in 12 in his Orange debut.
With SU trailing 13-11 at the 14:30 mark of the first half the Orangemen went on an 8-0 run to take a six-point lead, 19-13, with 12:26 remaining in the opening stanza. Syracuse closed the first half on a 18-7 run to extend its advantage to 48-33 at the break. Sophomore #Gerry McNamara# started the streak by drilling three straight trifectas on successive trips down court to electrify the Carrier Dome crowd of 7,971.
Team Nike pulled to within eight, 49-41, with 17:59 remaining in the contest, but that's as close as it would get as the Orange cruised to the 12-point win.
Junior #Josh Pace# joined Warrick, Edelin and Roberts in double figures with 11 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds. McNamara and Edelin finished with six assists each.
As a team, the Orangemen shot 51.4 percent from the floor and held a 50-26 advantage in points in the paint.
Former Kansas Jayhawks' star Jeff Boschee paced Team Nike with 21 points, including four-three pointers. Lionel Armstead chipped in 14 points.
The Orangemen will host the Harlem Globetrotters in their final exhibition game on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse will raise its 2002-03 national championship banner in a ceremony prior to the contest, which will be televised on ESPN.
